In the early 1990s, intellectual property rights (IPR) was a nascent legal field in Ghana. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, an early expert, introduced IPR law as an area of study at the University of Ghana and was nominated by her country to attend a 1995 Seminar session on Transnational Law: Intellectual Property Rights. She would later draw on insights gained in Salzburg when she drafted Ghana’s intellectual property legislation. MouldIddrisu subsequently oversaw Ghana’s responses to legal issues including terrorism, human trafficking, and women’s rights. She became Ghana’s Attorney General in 2009. Soon after her appointment as Minister of Education in 2011, Mould-Iddrisu returned to Salzburg for a session on Closing Educational and Social Mobility Gaps Worldwide.
